339 Cartons of Water Donated to Rhythms of Life
Last Wednesday, we joined Rhythms of Life at their outreach service in Trafalgar Square to help give out food and water to rough sleepers and homeless people around the area.
Founded by Andrew Faris, a former rough sleeper of 6 years, the Rhythms of Life team works selflessly to provide meals and essentials every day of the year for people who are homeless in London. As someone who had experienced homelessness himself, Andrew understood the daily struggles and needs of his fellow friends and founded his charity with the intentions to provide more effective ways to help out.
It was so humbling to see the amount of love and support expressed at the service. Andrew knew most of the people coming to collect free food and everyone knew him! He made an effort with every single person and he was even willing to give his own shoes to someone who needed a new pair. The volunteers served a variety of hot drinks, sandwiches, chocolates, biscuits, and cakes, including 339 cartons of water donated by our Leiho team.
Rhythms of Life just recently celebrated their 12th year anniversary this year and they continue to work tirelessly to help homeless people, particularly throughout this pandemic. They collect surplus food from their partners such as M&S and Wholefoods and distribute them at their food stalls the next day. Through this initiative, over 26,000 tonnes of food has been prevented from going to waste! In addition to their outreach services, they also offer literacy, I.T and life skill classes to help people rebuild their lives.
We are so thrilled to have joined with such a fun and selfless team of volunteers, keep up the hard work Rhythms of Life!
